USING THE MCQ BANK
Most of the operations and selections are made by clicking on a screen button or on an item in a dsplayed list. Always use the left button of the mouse.
Sometimes you may have to use one of the menus that is displayed across the top of the screen. These are "pull-down" menus. To select from a pull-down menu place the mouse-pointer over the name of the menu and click with the left mouse button. Then click on the option from the menu that you require.
Items on a menu which are grey rather than black are not available, or not appropriate to your current situation. As you use the MCQ Bank, items which are not available may become available.
You will, at some point, have to indicate which group of students you consider yourself to belong to. Generally speaking there are more questions suitable for Science Students than for Medical Students, and more for Medical Students than Dental Students..

CHOOSING TOPICS
There are 22 different topics to choose from. These will be displayed in a list. Choose a topic by clicking on its name. Most topics have three levels of question: easy, average and hard. If there is more than one level of question you will be asked to choose. After that you will be required to indicate how many questions you want by clicking numbers on a key pad. When the number is correct click on OK and the MCQ System will select a random sample and then display the first question from the sample.
In every level of every topic there are questions suitable for Dental, Medical and Science Students. You will only be presented with questions in the appropriate category..

SCORES AND RECORDS
To the left of each topic name in the topic list there is your score for that topic. Initially each score is set to 0% indicating that you have not attempted any questions. They will change when you have completed some questions. These scores are recorded so that when you start your next session the display will show the values they had at the end of the previous session. These scores are for your guidance and are not available to the department or to any member of staff.
At any time you may clear a particular score or clear all the scores. This should help you to keep track of your performance...

STUDY ADVICE AND GUIDANCE
Only attempt those topics on which you already have some knowledge through your course. Computer-based learning works more effectively if you already have some understanding.
Concentrate on topics with lower scores.
Clear scores occasionally so that you can better assess your current performance.
A short period of, say, one hour a week spread over the year is better than several hours a day on the few days before an exam!!!

That's right. Sometimes you will get a note like this; sometimes you will see a whole new page.
You can return to a previous page by clicking the BACK button or by choosing Visited from the Pages menu.
Hide this note by clicking on DISMISS.
Calculation
The score is the number of correct branches minus the number of incorrect branches. This is expressed as a percentage of the maximum score you could have obtained. Unanswered branches are scored as zero and will therefore reduce the percentage.
